HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE VEGAN BAKED BURGER PATTY

For all the vegetarians out there, you are not left out, here’s our recipe on how to make a simple vegan burger.

As a vegetarian, you are never exempted from enjoying a good old fashioned burger; the only difference is that rather than using meat, we will use vegetables and some other unique ingredients instead.

Your burger will still taste as fabulous, and the best part is that this is extremely healthy and filling at the same time.

You will need a food processor to be able to blend the ingredients to be formed into a patty. If you do not have a food processor, simply grind the ingredients by hand. Mason jar lids may also be needed to shape the party, but if you do not have one, then simply use your hands to form the patties.

Without wasting any more time, here is the recipe on how to make a simple vegan burger:

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE THE PATTY

  • 19 oz can of cooked black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 19 oz can lentils, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp each salt & pepper
  • 2 tbsp ground flax
  • 2/3 cups bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp bbq sauce

PROCEDURE

According to the measurements, first of all, add the cooked beans to the food processor.

Next, add in the cooked lentils.

A handful of chopped green onions go in next.

Add in some cumin, garlic, some herbs, some salt to taste, and pepper.

Blend the ingredients well in the food processor until it is smooth to some extent (you can mash by hand if you don’t have a food processor).

Put in some barbecue sauce and then place the mixture in a separate mixing bowl.

Add in some ground flax and bread crumbs, mix until well combined(you should have a very thick consistency).

Get a baking sheet, parchment paper, and your mason jar lids; alternatively, you can shape the burgers the way you want without the mason jar lids.

Spray some cooking oil on the baking sheet or mason jar lids

Take a heaping tablespoon of the burger mixture and gently press unto the mason jar lids or the baking sheet to get the shape you want.

Bake at 400 F / 200 C for 30-35 minutes or until slightly firm (not mushy) to the touch.

Make your sauce for the burger by mixing mayonnaise, hot sauce, and lime juice if you like,  finally some ketchup.

Spread the sauce on both sides of the bread and assemble the patty anyhow you like with tomatoes, pickles, cheese, lettuce, etc.
