How to make sausage bread rolls at home
In this post, we share a simple recipe on how to make sausage bread rolls at home. Your bread rolls will surely be soft, fluffy, and tasty.
Ingredients for how to make sausage bread rolls at home
- 2 Cups Bread flour plus about a handful for kneading
- 2 Tbsp. Butter Melted
- 1/2 Tbsp. Yeast
- 2 Egg use 1 for egg wash
- 1/2 Tsp. Salt
- 1/2 Cup Milk Warm
- 3 Tbsp. Sugar Use 1 Tsp for proofing the Yeast
- 10 Hotdog links
Note: Try to leave some spaces at both ends of the sausage while wrapping it because the dough can still rise up and cover the space left out a little bit.
It is advisable to steam or grill the sausage links before wrapping them around the dough because you want it to be thoroughly cooked.
First of all, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm milk, leave it for 2 to 5 minutes or until the yeast is well activated.
Get another bowl, add in the butter and eggs, mix the ingredients well, and set aside.
In a larger bowl, pour in some flour, salt, and sugar.
Make a well at the center of the flour mix.
Add the yeast, egg, and butter mixture to the flour. Mix thoroughly until you have a soft dough.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead with your hands until it’s smooth and elastic.
Next, place the dough inside a very large greased bowl, also smear some oil on the surface of the dough, and leave it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or till the size doubles.
To prepare the sausage, steam it in boiling water for about 7 minutes.
- After 7 minutes, drain out the water and set it aside.
After the dough has doubled in size, deflate the dough, and place it on a lightly floured surface.
Cut the dough into 10 equal pieces, and roll it out into a long rope that will be enough to wrap around the sausage about 3 times.
Wrap the rolled dough around the sausage and place them on lightly greased and floured baking sheets.
Again cover the rolls with a damp cloth, and leave it to rise for about 30 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
To make your egg wash, whisk 1 egg and a tablespoon of water together.
Brush the surface of the Bread rolls then place them in a 350 degrees Fahrenheit preheated oven and bake for about 10 to 15 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Your sausage bread rolls are ready!
