About Switzerland

Switzerland is officially known as the Swiss Confederation. It is mainly covered by land and located in western and central Europe which spans over an area of about 41,285 square kilometers. The country has an estimated population of about eight million people. Its capital is Bern. Banking and finance are primary Swiss industries.

Types of Visas to Switzerland

There are different types of visas given to anyone who intends to visit Switzerland. Please note that the visa given depends majorly on the reason for traveling.

  1. Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days
  2. National visa for a stay of more than 90 days
  3. Airport transit visa
  4. Labor / Work permits

Necessary Requirements

Below are the necessary requirements for a Schengen visa for business purposes.

  1. A Schengen Visa application form filled and signed.
  2. International passport with a validity goes beyond the expected return date, with at least two blank pages.
  3. A copy of the identification page of the international passport.
  4. A copy of all legit Schengen, UK, US, and Canadian Visas if requested, in addition to official refusals.
  5. Recent passport-sized photographs not more than 3 months old which capture the entire face with a white background is needed.
  6. Visa fees in cash.
  7. An original letter of invitation from Switzerland that contains the applicant’s first name, date of birth, reason, and duration of the visit. Please indicate if the applicant is certain of the accommodation and funding. The signed invitation should be sent by e-mail to the embassy before the date of appointment.
  8. If the applicant is self-employed, an Introductory letter, business incorporation certificate, and memorandum, original (to be returned), and photocopies must be provided. The applicant will also have to provide the company bank statement and personal bank statement going back as far as three months.
  9. Employed applicants are to provide an introductory letter from their employer with states the date the applicant’s employment began, the annual salary, the granted leave period, and resumption date with salary slips three months back. Personal bank statement three months back, reflecting salary slips stamped and signed by the bank.
  10. Hotel reservation/ accommodation information for the duration of the intended stay.
  11. Appropriate flight schedules with dates and flight numbers specifying arrival and departure.
  12. Proof of international travel insurance throughout the trip (Schengen area, coverage Euro 30,000), 15 days more than the last day of the planned stay in the Schengen area (a list is available upon
    request by e-mail).
  13. Please ensure you book an appointment before proceeding to submit your application with this Embassy.
  14. All original and photocopy of the requested documents must be presented, with a signed visa application by the applicant.
  15. Personal appearance when applying for a Schengen visa is mandatory to capture the biometric data (finger scans and facial image). If your finger scans were collected within the last 59 months and a visa with the mention “VIS” has been granted, then you won’t have to give new fingerprints for your next visa application(s) and personal appearance is not necessary. In this case, the application can be submitted by a third party.
