To be mortal
I feel as though I exists outside time,
I feel as though the concept is a joke,
We age and pass without a care,
We dream then die and we all fear.
Sometimes I hear death laughing as he watches,
His face amused by our sufferings,
If time did not exist would the world be better?
And so I write a letter.
I write for future generations,
I hope they can fix our mortality,
Time smirks as he ticks away,
It’s time for bed he says, no longer day.
One life and a single chance to make it big,
Many die without a name,
Time laughs because he knows the truth of the matter,
To be immortal, time we must shatter.
